5-Star Network Blog Project

www.five-starnetwork.com

I was in desperate need of PGP (Professional Growth Points) and being that I am a Family and Consumer Science (FACS) teacher (fancy for Home Ec.) its hard to find Professional Development opportunities that aren't geared toward Elementary, English, or Math educators. So I contacted my Assistance Principle to see if he had any ideas on how to find some good PGP for me. A week later he emailed me saying he saw Five-Star on Twitter and it looked good and he was going to take a class. I looked through the options and I loved that I could do a project for 40 PGP!!! So I signed up.

So far the course Integrating Blended and Online Teaching, has been interesting. I like that there are weekly discussion posts. We are only on the week 2 module and we have discussed online standards ISTE & iNACOL which are two different sets of standards that online learning education has in place. We also talked in module 1 about googles 20% time; I thought this was interesting because it allows employees to seek out there own interests and research new technologies and ideas that they find interesting outside of there work.
